BREAKING: I just got off the phone with Bobbi Davis owner of Shady Lady Brothel. She hopes to have her first two legal and licensed male prostitutes working at her brothel by January 1, 2010.

Some back story: Heidi Fleiss came to Nevada a few years ago to open a stud farm and managed to generate a ton of press and grab the support of HBO, but it was sound and fury signifying nothing. Fleiss never came closer to opening a stud farm than telling me Mike Tyson had agreed to work for her there. Fleiss never even applied for a license to operate a brothel of any kind in Nevada. Davis already has that license.

So, mostly flying under the media radar, Bobbi Davis is poised to succeed in doing what Fleiss never seriously attempted: bring legal male prostitutes to Nevada. On Friday Davis will be asking Nevada authorities for a waiver from the rule requiring all legal prostitutes to have cervical examinations for venereal diseases. Davis told me she is proposing instead that her male studs have a urethral examinations.

One other difference between Davis and Fleiss, the woman known as the Hollywood Madam insisted to me that her plan was for a heterosexual only brothel experience. But Davis says she doubts that would be legal in Nevada. She notes that her male prostitutes will be able to choose which clients they service at Shady Lady. And, therefore the male prostitutes at Shady Lady, about 150 miles from Vegas, will be able to choose if they want to accept male and/or female clients. If her waiver is approved Friday, this would be entirely legal with the same rules for her male prostitutes that are now followed by the women prostitutes at Nevada brothels.
