Pure led the charge in bringing celebrity hosting to Vegas filling the nights with the likes of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Mariah Carey.
Of course, these are different times. But apparently the need to have someone, anyone, really, host remains. And, so the caliber of the celebrity has slowly dropped down to the level of comedy. If fame is not available then notoriety works. Witness: Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the people who entered a White House party uninvited, will be strolling down Pure’s red carpet as hosts on January 16 (a Saturday night!).
I would like to say this is idiotic of Pure. But it isn’t.
The truth is I was recently considering doing a poll asking which news figures would draw well as hosts in Vegas. Anyone up for a night at LAVO with, say, Glenn Beck? My poll was meant in jest. But I think I was wrong to be joking. I am betting the nightclub gets a lot of free publicity out of the photos of those two on the red carpet at Pure. Certainly, the Salahi couple will draw a lot more attention than a night with yet another star of a television show.
Of course, Pure is going to win on this because of the novelty. And, I suspect the club has even discovered, on a budget, a little bit of irony. But how many more people like this are there out there to get as hosts? Balloon Boy dad springs to mind, but his behavior was despicable rather than trivial. Vegas has always avoided politics in entertainment. And, I assumed most strictly news figures were too controversial for Vegas. But I was clearly wrong once.
So, I’ll put it out there: What public figures do you think could score big hosting in Vegas? Glenn Beck?

Really sad that people whose only claim to fame is that they crashed a White House party. This only confirms these two knuckleheads are attention mongers that want their faces plastered out there to achieve their fifteen minutes of fame in some reality show universe where somebody…anybody….throws money at them as often as possible. It actually makes me want to puke that anyone wants to fawn all over these ignoramouses who seem to be making money off of the current controversial issue of terrorism and its prevention.
As far as balloon boy dad? Do me a favor, Richard. If he does show up to host Pure night club some night (or any other night), please let me know well in advance. Because then I can give the court system where he was convicted a heads up to let them know that he is soon to be in violation of his probation. That way they can expeditiously toss him promptly back in jail. Not sure if you know it, but he is strictly forbidden from trying to make money off of that stupid escapade for a total of four years. It is a part of his sentencing.
Glenn Beck? No. Hell no. Just my opinion. Anyways, it’s pretty much a lock that he won’t. He can’t. He’s not marketable. I base this on a recent survey that was conducted with 20-30 year olds about if they watched the Glenn Beck Show. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT answered no! So, why would they have him host a night club that targets that age group? No one would attend. It would be a stupid business decision that would totally lose them money.
And I take it one step further. NOBODY from ClusterFox News should show up to host even a hot dog stand opening here in Las Vegas. That opinion/entertainment television station that masks itself as a news network has done more harm to this nation by inciting people into believing the government is out to get them, pull the plug on gramma, birthers, deathers, socialism, tea party idiocy, etc. etc. ad nauseum. ClusterFox has raised fearmongering to new heights, mainly confirmed by the owner of that network coming out openly saying he wants nothing but the total destruction of the President Obama administration. Period. And what’s hilarious is that they not only love the tea partiers, but they seem to be the propaganda network the Republican Party has latched onto that only wants to throw out no, no, no, hell no, cannot, don’t agree with anything idiocy. And, if you ask me, this is a dumb strategy for them to follow, because all indications show that it will ensure the Republican Party will be rendered ineffective for at least the next generation to come.
But back to your article. Who should host? To tell the truth, I’d like to see you host some night, Richard. Then you can blog about it, as well as get paid for it. Get that Paris Hilton fee she usually gets. Reading your observations would be interesting. Because you won’t catch me even stepping foot in one of those dumb rip off night clubs. Be interesting to see your viewpoint of what goes on.
Or another suggestion is the officers who were involved in the incident where they had to save lives at the recent Federal Courthouse shooting downtown. They are, to simply put it, heroes. But, sadly enough, according to the glitz and glamor of these dumb night clubs that only want money, money, money, they would be their last choice. They don’t want heroes there. They want idiots.
Wow colin I’m impressed that with as much of the liberal kool aid as you have ingested, and all of the B.S. wanna be news station spin you have encounterd that you could still type. Its ok buddy you hold tight to your anoited one and all of his fake ass promises, I’m sure you’ll be one he spares as this nation falls into a civial war.
