The Tea Party unites on Strip: at luxury hotel

At the Tea Party rally this weekend in Searchlight elderly people seem to have taken on Nevada dust while trying to hear slogans through a crap PA.

From the Las Vegas, non-partisan, perspective, the real question: how do you make money on this? Well, the answer is move the Party from a field in Searchlight to a luxury hotel in Vegas. And, so coming to the Palazzo: “National Tea Party Unity Convention, July 15 – 17, 2010.”

Corporate control is much more interesting than government control; I note the convention is at Palazzo in a rather special way. If you do not live in Vegas you MUST stay at Palazzo to attend the convention: “Registration for the convention requires confirmed 3 night hotel accommodations at The Palazzo Las Vegas Resort….Cancellation of hotel accommodations will result in the forfeiture of entire convention registration fees.” And, the registration fees to be part of this special moment in history: $399!

And, you don’t want to miss out, because this time the Tea Party is coming with a film festival. (Of course, you will have to pay an entrance fee if you want  your patriotic movie or music video considered.) So far, the big name speaker is the author of the thank-you-copy-and-paste-title: “Tea Party Revival: The Conscience of a Conservative Reborn – The Tea Party Revolt Against Unconstrained Spending and Growth of the Federal Government.” And, you can pay an extra $99 for a traditional American concert offered by the convention

I bet the nightclubs, tables and strip clubs of Vegas are going to offer some competition for attention come July.

I know it is not American music, but I wonder if anyone in the Tea Party knows The Clash? For the cost of a download you can learn all about turning rebellion into money : “Whiteman in Hammersmith Palais.”

Richard, it seems like MSNBC picked up this piece of news. There was a segment about it (like what you reported) on the Rachel Maddow Show last night.
