It is official: Lance Burton will end his run at the Monte Carlo (that started in 1996) on September 4, 2010. In a press release, Burton makes no mention of rumors reported by Alicia Jacobs that he quit rather than make cuts to his show meant to save money. In the politic statement Burton is quoted: “Performing at Monte Carlo and introducing thousands of people to the world of magic has been a fantastic experience for me. I have loved every minute of this historic run and look forward to turning my attention to new opportunities.” After 14 years, Burton’s show was about as close to a sure thing as Vegas offered and, until he is back at another resort, he will be missed.  I an working on some threads concerning Burton’s departure now, and hope to have more to report soon.
