There are 470 articles currently logged by Google relating to reports that troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has signed on to play porno actress Linda Lovelace (whose real name was Linda Boreman) in an independent film, “Inferno.” One blog even claims Lohan has risked jail to promote this non-existent film. But right now “Inferno” has at least one major obstacle: Raymond Pistol.
Among the things that pornography kept when Boreman left the industry was her famous pseudonym. The name Linda Lovelace is currently owned by Arrow Productions, a company based here in the Las Vegas Valley, which also owns Deep Throat.
I just spoke to Arrow’s owner, Raymond Pistol. According to Pistol, “There is no way you can make a film about Linda Boreman and sex and not go through me.” Pistol notes that the creators of “Inferno” have not made any deal with him yet for the rights to the name Linda Lovelace or to the title “Deep Throat.” In fact, all of the press about Lohan and the film alerted Pistol to “Inferno,” and his representatives have since reached out to the proposed films’ producers. Pistol says that negotiations are ongoing.

Nice article.
It’s interesting to note that Linda Boreman had her career skyrocket from appearing in the original controversial movie, but then she kind of fell into obscurity.
Now, we’re seeing the other way around.
Lindsey Lohan supposedly signed on to remake this movie. The only controversy now is that her career, along with her personal life, is a complete train wreck. If she pulls this off, she could skyrocket.
But, I doubt it.
From everything I see, she is toxic. And if she isn’t considered toxic, then Hollywood is totally full of crap. Because it appears that if someone were to hire her, they would inherit all kinds of personal problems like lack of self-confidence, substance abuse with who knows what kind of illegal substances and alcohol sloshing around in her brain pan cavity and probably even mental instability (all kind of inter-related)…and this is all before they even point a camera at her and tell her to open her mouth wide, bark like a seal and clap her arms together straight armed in front of her.
So, nice thought, but she better stick to just coming to Las Vegas and hosting at nightclubs. Because to do that, all she has to do is make sure to wear clean underwear, stand there and pose, not cross her eyes too much, be photogenic as hell and then rake in money off of that awesome accomplishment. Other no talents do that already here in Las Vegas. Like the Kardashians, K-Fed, Paris Hilton, Criss Angel and the list grows daily. We seem to attract the so called beautiful people who are incredibly overblown with attitude and stacked with so much bling they could topple over sideways, but lack in talent, common sense and sometimes even sobriety.
But, then again, that’s Las Vegas.
God, I love this town.
I suspect that Pistol may be exaggerating the degree to which trademark law gives him control over the name “Linda Lovelace.” If a new actress in the porn industry decided to adopt the stage name “Lynda Lovelace” or “Linda Luvlace”, Pistol’s company might well be able to stop her. But I don’t think trademark law would enable him to stop the production of a biographical movie where the trademarked pseudonym would be mentioned in the dialogue.
If Pistol could use his control over the name “Linda Lovelace” to stop a biopic of her from being made without his consent, then what would be next? Maybe George W. Bush would trademark his name to stop people like Oliver Stone and Michael Moore from making movies about him.
Pistol may wind up getting some money to cooperate with “Inferno”, but if the film’s producers have a decent trademark lawyer, Pistol will receive much less than he now thinks he will.
Obligatory disclaimer: this isn’t legal advice, and, fortunately, you probably didn’t think it would be.
Pistol owns the rights to the name “linda lovelace” and to “deep throat” if a biographical film is going to be made and profits made off of it, then Pistol deserves a cut of that.
