Lohan may be starring but a promotional trip to Cannes seems premature. After all the rights to the name Lovelace are not yet available to the producers of Inferno according to Raymond Pistol. I checked in with Raymond Pistol, owner of Arrow productions which possess copyright to Deep Throat and Linda Lovelace, to find out if a deal had been made yet to use the name “Linda Lovelace” for the movie Inferno. Pistol says negotiations were ongoing at Cannes Film Festival between Pistol’s representatives and producers for the hypothetical film. But no deal had been reached when we spoke this weekend. Unbelievable.

Richard, the next time you do an item about the Linda Lovelace biopic, I recommend you get a comment from a trademark lawyer. I don’t think that Pistol’s rights to the “Linda Lovelace” trademark are as extensive as they have been made out to be, or that Pistol could stop the film from referring to the subject as “Linda Lovelace” without his agreement. A trademark lawyer could provide more insight into this issue.
