Breaking: Last night Paris Hilton and Wynn nightclub executive Cy Waits were allegedly pulled over by Metro. The Review-Journal reports Hilton was arrested for having a small amount of cocaine in her purse. TMZ reports, Hilton is denying it was her purse. The driver is not identified by the Review-Journal.

The car with Hilton and the driver was pulled over on the Strip allegedly for smelling of weed. According to on-line records for the Clark County Detention Center,  Cy E. Waits was booked at 11:42 for ” “DUI-ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS.” As of this posting he is still in custody on $2000 bail. Just yesterday Wynn Las Vegas sent out an announcement to media that Waits and his brother, Jesse, were getting a promotion with the departure of longtime Wynn partner, Victor Drai:

“Jesse and Cy Waits, who have run Tryst and XS for Victor Drai, will remain along with the men and women that have worked in the clubs since their inception so that these operations will enjoy complete management continuity.”

The Waits brothers were profiled in Details in 2008. The profile is worth reading in its entirety. But this anecdote about Cy’s twin brother, Jesse, from Details seems revealing:

“At about 3 A.M. …while driving his Hummer across Las Vegas Boulevard en route to Drai’s, Jesse blows through a red turn arrow. He doesn’t bother checking his rearview for flashing lights. ‘I know the guys at Metro,’ he says. ‘You’d be surprised at the influence that comes from owning a club in this town.’”

Do you think those connections can also work for his brother and Paris Hilton?

Certainly, Hilton does not seem too worried about her Boo. While he apparently sat in jail last night, she sent out a Tweet: “In bed watching Family Guy. Love this show.! So hilarious! Stewie is my favorite .. love his accent.” She followed up with:  “Going to bed. Sweet dreams everyone. Xoxo Paris …”  Is Hilton really that callous?  You have to wonder: does Paris Hilton write her own Tweets or are they pre written and automatically posted?

Regardless, her problems are minimal. I reached criminal defense lawyer Dayvid Figler, and he said of the cocaine: “If she had more than 4 grams she is in big trouble. But anything less is going to be treated as personal possession. At worst, that is automatic probation under the law. First time offenders have a diversion program where they can get it completely dismissed and sealed off their record.”

Her boyfriend, Cy Waits, who now runs the nightclubs for Wynn Las Vegas, probably has more serious problems both legally and, perhaps, professionally. Check back for more as this story develops.

UPDATE: Clark County Detention Center on-line appears to show that Cy Waits has been released from custody. He was being held, according to on-line records, awaiting $2000 bail.  The same Clark County site, checked again at 10:20 AM this morning,   show Waits no longer  in the custody of Clark County Detention Center.
