About

Richard-Abowitz Richard Abowitz has been covering Vegas for over a decade. He is the author of hundreds of articles (cover stories, features, columns and reviews) for Las Vegas Weekly— ranging from a profile of  the magician Teller to taking up residence in a legal brothel. Currently, he writes a column  and covers entertainment for Vegas Seven. Few people know Sin City like Abowitz.

According to writer Joel Stein, who in recent years has produced two cover stories on Vegas for Time magazine: “The first time I was sent to cover Las Vegas, nearly every single person I talked to told me to call Richard. And I never stopped talking to him. He knows everyone in town from the powerful to the desperate, understands how the businesses work better than anyone else, actually goes out and does things and is way too eager to share it all. Sucker.”

Abowitz is perhaps best known for writing the Movable Buffet blog and continuing column for  Los Angeles Times. Abowitz  currently writes for TheDailyBeast.com as well.

In addition to covering Vegas, Abowitz has been writing about music for Rolling Stone since 1996.

In Janury 2010, Abowitz launched GoldPlatedDoor.com to be an honest broker reporting on all things Vegas.
