Don’t hold your breath.
MGM Mirage surprised me by meeting today with the governor whose opponent for office the company has prominently endorsed. I wonder what came out of the meeting? According to the AP story running on the Sun site the news is great:
“Casino operator MGM Mirage is pledging to quickly pay [...]
I had some particularly scathing things to say this morning about Perini vs. MGM Mirage. But a filling deserted my mouth and so I am reduced to a whimpering victim until I am repaired at 1:30.
So, here are scattered thoughts produced and delivered in pain: One interesting thing to look at is [...]
Review-Journal columnist John L. Smith has done some digging into the bizarre management and control issues that have taken place at CityCenter’s tenant restaurant and nightclub Beso/Eve. I have been reporting on the odd happenings at this business since earlier this year when I discovered an association with the controversial Steve Davidovici.
Since then there have [...]
The document dump on CityCenter’s construction billing dispute I linked to yesterday between MGM Mirage and Perini is a fascinating though very partial glimpse of the acrimonious rift between the two giants that is now on the way to court.
Perini’s release hints at events from over a year ago when CityCenter almost fell into bankruptcy, suggests MGM Mirage [...]
The new Facebook group started by Perini and other contractors on CityCenter ”Citizens Holding MGM Accountable” has made good on the promise to release the correspondence between the primary builder and the casino giant. At first glance, it seems the two communicated in a clearly irritated tone like people who fully expected these exchanges to have a future [...]
Here is the advertisement introducing the new Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority campaign for Las Vegas as Camp Vegas. I found this via VegasTripping.com where the campaign is judged lame. I don’t have an opinion on Camp Vegas, yet; visually the advertisement does a good job of selling the look of how Vegas now [...]
Our governor is remarkably unpopular. That is not a partisan statement. He happens to be a Republican. But neither Republicans nor Democrats are impressed by him. And, both speak better of him than his wife.
Among those with no respect for Governor Gibbons there is Nevada’s largest private employer, MGM-Mirage. I have already blogged how strongly [...]
I am still trying to get new information on the ownership disagreement at Beso restaurant and Eve nightclub that resulted in a managing partner allegedly being taken out of the establishment Wednesday by private security. I received the following statement from Beso/Eve that adds little in the way of detail:
“The activities at [...]
Norm Clarke is reporting that a raid took place yesterday at Eva Longoria Parker’s Beso restaurant and Eve nightclub at CityCenter. Unlike the infamous Pure raid by the IRS (investigation still open), this action apparently was bizarrely carried out by private security working for the owners.
It seems that like in some [...]
We are back at the blog.
As I told you earlier, I have been writing a book about Vegas (it has morphed into a novel) and wanted to dedicate myself totally to doing that last week. My slowly accumulating manuscript needed some focus, because I am taking on a new responsibility that will [...]
